Andrea Echeverri

(Colombia, 13 September 1965)

Andrea Echeverri Arias is best known as the lead singer of the rock band Aterciopelados, but before her music career she studied Fine Arts at the Universidad de los Andes and trained as a ceramicist. Her ceramics employ surrealist and folk‑inspired imagery to confront issues of gender, sexuality and violence. Echeverri has exhibited her clay figures and vessels in Colombia and abroad and continues to produce ceramics alongside her music.

Her sculptural pieces often depict voluptuous female bodies, mothers and mythic creatures. These forms are decorated with bright colours and motifs that echo pre‑Columbian art and Andean popular culture. Echeverri’s handmade “Nicho Candela” series, for example, pays tribute to the everyday experiences of womanhood and friendship. Through her ceramics she uses humour and symbolism to challenge patriarchal stereotypes.

*Linea y Color* collaborates with Andrea Echeverri to offer limited‑edition giclée prints of selected ceramic works. Each print is produced on archival paper in a numbered edition and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. Collecting an Echeverri print supports an artist who bridges music and ceramic art while giving voice to feminist narratives.
