Cecilia Ordóñez

(Pamplona, Colombia, 11 January 1949)

Cecilia Ordóñez Paris  is a Colombian ceramist and visual artist. She studied enamelling at the Paul Savignie School in Paris in 1971, ceramics at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia in 1976, and earned a Master of Fine Arts at the University of Iowa in 1980. Ordóñez is a member of the International Academy of Ceramics and is recognized as one of the pioneering ceramic artists in Colombia.

Her work draws on pre‑Columbian and natural motifs to explore themes of cosmos, light and the environment. Series such as “Cosmos”, “Polo Norte”, “The Wall”, “Desde el jardín” and “Luces y Sombras” have been collected by museums in Bogotá, Bucaramanga, Pamplona, the Museo de Arte de Ponce in Puerto Rico, the Banco de América Museum in Caracas and the city museum of Vallauris in France. Her high‑temperature clay sculptures are notable for their bold shapes and subtle glazes.
