Carmen Elvira Brigard
Carmen Elvira Brigard is a Colombian artist, singer, writer and professor whose work spans drawing, painting and sacred music. Brigard’s practice merges visual art and chant: while studying for an MA in Ritual Chant and Song at the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance (2015‑2016), she explored the interplay between Gregorian chant and Hildegard von Bingen’s music, translating acoustic experiences into scribbles and graphic notations. She describes how her work brings together acoustic and graphic images—scribbles, transcriptions of chant and vocal performance—to form a single creative gesture.
Carmen teaches at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana and continues to produce drawings, calligraphic scores and songs that reflect her fascination with medieval spirituality and contemporary sound.
*Linea y Color* collaborates with Carmen Elvira Brigard on limited‑edition prints of her calligraphic drawings inspired by Gregorian chant and the ecstatic visions of Hildegard von Bingen. Each high‑resolution print on archival paper reproduces the delicate hand‑drawn lines and translucent washes of ink and watercolor. These signed and numbered editions include a certificate of authenticity and provide collectors with a unique window into Brigard’s synaesthetic world, where voice and image become one.
